Moab in the Fall

Moab is beautiful to visit any time of year, but nothing beats the autumn months in this gorgeous red rock country. Small town events with big charm are available throughout the fall season, and with fall break in October for most of Utah schools, Moab is a hot destination. Here are some ideas for your possible upcoming trip:

Barktoberfest

The Humane Society of Moab Valley presents Barktoberfest at the Old City Park on October 23 from 4 to 7 pm. If you’re in town, come and enjoy a bratwurst with sauerkraut and a delicious beer, all catered by local restaurant, Blu Pig. Live music from Jagertown is featured too, with their signature southern rock sound.

Haunted Bunkhouse

If you’re here for Halloween, check out Community Rebuilds’ first annual Haunted Bunkhouse. Early evening activities are fun for the whole family, but once the sun goes down, put your bravery to the test by taking a haunted tour if you dare. This event is October 30 at 150 South 200 East from 4 to 9pm.

Moab Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, Adventure 5K, and Kids K

Start training now because the Moab Marathon is an unparalleled run. On November 6 and 7, you can journey through the most unforgettable country with the entire run a scenic masterpiece. This run is wildly popular with avid runners and novice runners alike, and with good reason.

Annual Moab Folk Festival

Head to the Moab City Ballpark on Center Street for two days filled with live music, beer and wine, art vendors, and delicious food options. Running November 6 and 7, you can choose between a one-day or two-day pass. This annual event has been a local favorite for almost 20 years.

Fall has a lot to offer in Moab. The temperatures are perfect for any outdoor activity, including a picnic, so be sure to grab some takeout from a local restaurant and enjoy it amongst nature. The trees in the Manti-La Sal National Forest boast stunning, vivid colors, providing beautiful contrasts against the bright blue sky. Hikers enjoy these months especially because trails are typically a little less crowded and with cooler temperatures, you don’t have to start that hike quite so early in the morning as you would in July.

Moab is for relaxers and for adventurers alike. We think it’s best to have a little of both worlds. You can’t leave Moab without taking a fantastic adventure tour. At the Grand Company, we offer personalized trips that are geared to your desires. Family friendly tours are common, but we can take it up as many notches as you want. Pair one of these great events with an adrenaline-packed tour to make the most of your Moab trip. Jeep tours, Side-by-Side tours, and Rock Buggy tours are popular options. The Beast tours can’t be beat for a larger group, and you can opt for a Follow-me tour if you have your own rock crawler and just need a little help with where to go. Give us a call and see why we’re the hottest spot for adventure.
